Family Reunification Damages Lawsuit

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) have filed a class action lawsuit against past and present administrative Trump officials on the grounds that the over 4,000 children who were separated from their parents suffered severe mental trauma, which warrants several millions of dollars in damages. The lawsuit is taking place in Tuscon, Arizona amidst reports that despite Trump filing an executive order June 2018 reunifying over 2,700 children with their families, many more families remain separated and the trauma endured because of being separated should not be ignored. There are also reports that suggest that parents have often enough been deported without their children, or, sometimes, the people in charge of caring for both children and parents struggle with finding matching families.

If successful, all who were affected by this will be compensated. ACLU hopes to use the idea that not only were these separations inhumane but are also a violation of human rights.
